The Dallas YMCA has a track record for exceptional program innovation, community engagement, aggressive growth, and leadership development. We’re looking for an individual who is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s real estate and facilities strategy to achieve Association objectives. We are one of the largest YMCA’s in North America serving over 240,000 people annually through programs including aquatics, youth sports, childcare, teen outreach, and health and wellness. These programs are administered by a full and part-time staff of over 2,600 who serve at 16 branches and a resident camp.
Position Details
Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Vice President, Chief Properties Officer leads execution of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas’ facilities strategy across both growth and existing operations. This role is responsible for delivering an ambitious eight-site development and renovation pipeline over the next four years, while also ensuring the effective maintenance, reinvestment, and performance of the YMCA’s current footprint of 16 branches and one resident camp. The SVP owns the full lifecycle of the YMCA’s physical assets—from site strategy and acquisition through design, construction, and ongoing operational performance—ensuring facilities are well-located, efficiently delivered, and consistently high-performing.
Strategic Leadership:

Lead delivery of an eight-site pipeline (new builds and major renovations) across the Dallas metro area.

Develop and implement a comprehensive real estate and facilities strategy aligned with organizational goals.

Provide executive oversight for property portfolio management, including acquisitions, dispositions, and lease negotiations.

Provide regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors on project progress and portfolio performance.

Hire, develop, and oversee an in-house eight-member maintenance team.

Understand the municipal development approval process and strong experience collaborating with municipal staff, elected officials and public agencies.
Facilities Management:

Manage and coordinate construction projects from conception to completion

Provide detailed constructability reviews of project documents

Oversee capital projects, renovations, and construction activities to meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.

Select, oversee, and coordinate architects, general contractors, and engineers as needed for multi-million-dollar projects.

Act as a Project Owner General Contractor, hire and direct specific trades to self-perform tasks under direct contract between YMCA/Sub Contractors, eliminating tiered markups.

Ensure optimal operation, maintenance, and safety of all facilities.

Partner with operations leaders to ensure facilities consistently support program delivery and member experience.

Development of policies, procedures, standards and preventative maintenance that protect capital assets.

Monitor permit applications and other regulatory project requirements.

Coordinate design consultants work and review documents for completeness and coordination with other consultants.
Financial Management:

Develop and manage construction, renovation, and/or expansion budgets for real estate and facilities operations, ensuring cost efficiency and ROI.

Negotiate vendor contracts and monitor performance for cost-effectiveness and compliance.

Support funding efforts with clear project scopes and financial plans.
Risk & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to property and facilities management.

Implement risk management strategies for physical assets and workplace safety.
Sustainability & Innovation:

Drive sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction.

Leverage technology and best practices to optimize facilities operations.

Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering (construction or mechanical), another related field or equivalent

Ten or more years’ experience in a related leadership role

Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.

Proven, successful experience in facility management, budget management, supervision and controlling the maintenance of plants and equipment.

The incumbent must have a broad base of knowledge and experience in facility mechanical procedures.

Proven success delivering multiple concurrent capital projects.

Experience in site selection, deal negotiation, and end-to-end development execution.

Track record managing existing asset portfolios and capital reinvestment programs.

The incumbent must have the ability to work with building trades and consult with staff, contractors and volunteers.

This position must also develop training programs for facility staff and develop short and long-range plans.
