Job Title: Lodge Operations Manager – Odyssey Lodge (Alaska)
Location: Remote, China Poot / Peterson Bay, Alaska (via Homer Harbor)
Season: mid-April – mid-October 2027 with part time remote work off-season to plan operations and hire staff.
Compensation: Competitive Monthly Salary + Free Housing + Performance/Completion Bonus
The Opportunity
Odyssey Lodge is an immersive luxury wilderness experience located in the heart of Kachemak Bay. As the Lodge Operations Manager, you are the heartbeat of our operation. You will lead a dedicated team in delivering five-star hospitality in a remote setting where logistics are defined by the tides, the winds and the rugged Alaskan coastline. You are part concierge, part operations director, and part marine logistics coordinator.
The Role
Guest Experience: Orchestrate seamless arrivals and departures via landing craft from Homer Harbor. In cooperation with the lodge Concierges curate personalized itineraries including kayaking, glacier trekking, bear viewing , fishing and gourmet dining.
Operational Excellence: Oversee remote logistics, including fuel management, power systems, and "just-in-time" supply chains utilizing landing craft marine transport.
Team Leadership: Cultivate a high-performance culture among a small, tight-knit crew (chefs, guides, housekeeping and maintenance) living in close quarters.
Brand Stewardship: Ensure the lodge maintains its "Luxury Wilderness" aesthetic, from the linens in the cabins to the presentation of the evening’s catch.
Who You Are
Experienced: 5+ years in high-end hospitality, with at least 2 seasons in a remote, off-grid, seasonal environment.
Marine-Minded: Familiarity with marine environments and water-based logistics is a significant asset, as our primary link to the mainland is via landing craft in Kachemak Bay with a maximum tidal change of 25’.
Resourceful: You don’t panic when equipment fails or weather delays the landing craft; you find solutions before the guests even notice.
Personable: You possess the "social stamina" to engage with high-net-worth guests while maintaining professional boundaries.
Certified: Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent is highly preferred.

Duties
- Oversee daily lodge operations, including front desk, housekeeping, and guest services to ensure smooth functioning.
- Supervise and manage hospitality teams, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to uphold hotel management standards.
- Implement and monitor hotel guest service standards to ensure an outstanding guest experience that exceeds expectations.
- Manage hospitality operations budgets, including revenue management strategies and financial operations to maximize profitability.
- Utilize property management systems (PMS) and hospitality reservation systems to streamline bookings, check-ins, and guest data management.
- Coordinate staffing needs, scheduling, and employee relations to maintain a motivated team environment.
- Handle guest relations proactively by addressing concerns promptly and ensuring high levels of customer service at all touchpoints.
- Conduct audits and oversee financial procedures to ensure accuracy in billing and reporting.
- Develop operational policies aligned with industry best practices while fostering a positive work culture focused on leadership and teamwork.
- Maintain compliance with hotel guest service standards, health regulations, and safety protocols across the property.
Skills
- Communicate effectively with diverse guests and staff members.
- Proven experience supervising hospitality teams within resort or hotel environments.
- Strong knowledge of hotel management practices including revenue management, budgeting, and financial operations.
- Expertise in managing property management systems (PMS), hospitality reservation systems, and multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage human resources functions, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Outstanding customer service skills focused on delivering memorable guest experiences through attentive service and problem resolution.
- Experience overseeing audits, front desk operations, and managing hospitality operations budgets.

- Familiarity with resort experience standards and managing hospitality operations in a fast-paced environment.
