Position Summary: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
In this role, you will work primarily in one assigned residential home, supporting individuals with daily life skills, personal care, household routines, and participation in community activities.
You will be part of a consistent care team that provides structure, safety, and encouragement while helping each person pursue independence at their own pace.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct Care & Daily Living
- Assist adults with daily routines, including hygiene, grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Prepare meals and support nutrition needs as directed.
- Encourage skill development and personal independence.
Implementation of Care Plans
- Follow each individual’s Individual Plan of Service (IPOS).
- Support personal goals and track progress.
Safety, Monitoring & Support
- Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or environment.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive atmosphere.
- Follow all agency and state policies regarding care and safety.
Communication & Documentation
- Document daily notes, shift information, and incidents accurately.
- Maintain professional communication with supervisors and coworkers.
Household Management
- Assist with cleaning, organizing, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Help maintain a stable and comfortable home environment.
Transportation (When Needed)
- Provide transportation for community outings using your reliable, insured vehicle.
- Mileage reimbursement provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Direct Support Professional, Direct Care Worker, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide.
- High school diploma or GED.
- State-Mandated Direct Support Professional (DSP) Training (formerly MORC trainings) preferred.
- First Aid, CPR, BBP certifications helpful.
- Reliable vehicle, insurance, and valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.

All required training must be completed to qualify.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed inside a personal residential home and in the community.
- Light physical activity, including lifting and household tasks, is required.
- Use of wheelchairs, gait belts, and related equipment may be necessary.
- This position provides consistent work in one primary location.
