The Head Coach is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective, engaging, and competitive soccer program. This role includes recruiting and retaining quality players, fostering their ongoing athletic development, and promoting their physical, intellectual, and social growth. The Head Coach is expected to model leadership, sportsmanship, and a commitment to youth development at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Be present for games and practices, and other required activities within the club
- Plan and lead age‑appropriate soccer practices and games that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment that supports participation and enjoyment
- Teach fundamental soccer techniques, rules, and strategies appropriate to each age group
- Manage player behavior and reinforce respect, discipline, and good sportsmanship
- Ensure player safety by supervising all activities and monitoring proper use of equipment
- Communicate consistently with parents/guardians regarding player progress, schedules, and upcoming events
- Assist with organizing team schedules, registration processes, and event logistics
- Incorporate additional activities—such as basic cheer, fitness drills, or physical education exercises—to support overall athletic development
Requirements
- Prior experience in sports coaching, physical education, or working with children in recreational or instructional settings
- Strong knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, and safety protocols
- Effective behavior‑management skills that support discipline while maintaining a fun environment
- Ability to communicate clearly with children, parents, and program staff
- Must hold at least a U.S. Soccer Grassroots License
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
