GENCO General Contractors of P.R. Corp. is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Janitor/Floor Technician to support cleaning and floor care operations at a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs federal healthcare facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Floor Technician will be responsible for maintaining floors and assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, and well-maintained condition. This position requires knowledge of floor care procedures, proper operation of cleaning equipment, safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and the ability to follow established facility and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or floor care services and be able to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.

Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, buff, and polish floors using appropriate equipment, products, and cleaning methods.

Operate floor machines, buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, extractors, and other floor care equipment as required.

Remove dirt, chips, trash, debris, and other materials from floors and assigned work areas.

Perform routine and specialized floor care services according to established schedules and facility requirements.

Clean and maintain different types of flooring, including tile, resilient flooring, carpet, and other surfaces.

Vacuum carpets, rugs, mats, and other designated areas.

Clean spills and other floor hazards promptly to help maintain a safe environment.

Dust and clean equipment, furniture, fixtures, and other assigned surfaces.

Polish metal fixtures, trimmings, and other surfaces to maintain their appearance.

Inspect completed work to ensure established cleanliness and appearance standards are met.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, lavatories, showers, and other assigned areas.

Maintain cleanliness in offices, hallways, common areas, work areas, and other designated spaces.

Replenish cleaning and sanitation supplies as needed.

Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

Properly use and store cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety procedures and manufacturer instructions.

Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, spills, maintenance concerns, or other issues to the Supervisor.

Assist with general janitorial duties and other cleaning-related tasks as assigned.

Follow all company and facility procedures regarding safety, sanitation, infection control, security, and proper handling of cleaning products.

Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in a federal healthcare environment.

Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, commercial cleaning, or floor care services preferred.

Previous experience operating floor care equipment is highly desirable.

Knowledge of basic floor care procedures, cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and safety standards.

Ability to safely operate cleaning machines and equipment.

Ability to safely handle and use cleaning chemicals and solutions.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Must be physically capable of performing manual labor, standing and walking for extended periods, and frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
This position is performed primarily indoors within a federal healthcare facility serving U.S. Veterans. The employee may work in offices, patient care areas, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other designated spaces.
The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, wet floors, floor care equipment, machinery noise, and other conditions commonly associated with janitorial and floor care operations. Employees are required to follow all applicable safety, sanitation, security, and facility procedures.
