As a Boat Captain, you will oversee daily vessel operations, navigate complex waterways, and maintain the highest safety and maintenance standards to deliver reliable water transportation solutions.
Duties
- Operate and navigate vessels using advanced marine navigation systems, ensuring compliance with all US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and maritime safety procedures
- Manage and supervise crew members, fostering effective communication and teamwork to execute daily operations seamlessly
- Oversee vessel maintenance, including routine inspections, mechanical repairs, rigging checks, and water transportation equipment upkeep to guarantee vessel reliability
- Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely during loading, unloading, or equipment adjustments using proper rigging techniques
- Implement maritime safety protocols, including emergency response procedures, safety drills, and crew training to uphold industry standards
- Coordinate with management for vessel scheduling, route planning, and managing vessel management activities in accordance with water transportation industry best practices
- Ensure strict adherence to all maritime crew communication protocols and manage team workflows efficiently during voyages
Skills
- Extensive experience in water transportation industry operations with a strong understanding of vessel management and marine navigation
- Proven ability to lead teams as a ship supervisor while managing crew performance and safety compliance
- Knowledge of USCG regulations governing vessel operation, safety standards, and crew certification requirements
- Mechanical knowledge related to vessel systems maintenance, rigging, heavy lifting equipment, and water transportation gear
- Skilled in maritime piloting techniques and marine navigation systems for precise route execution in diverse conditions
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with crew members and external stakeholders in high-pressure environments
- Experience with military or maritime background preferred; familiarity with rigging, manual handling, and maritime safety procedures highly valued
Pay: $26.03 - $35.00 per hour
