Duties
- Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques, and monitoring patient vital signs.
- Perform laboratory tests, collect samples for medical collection, and interpret results to aid in accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animal restraint and animal husbandry tasks to ensure safe and stress-free interactions for pets during examinations or treatments.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring the well-being of hospitalized animals.
- Maintain accurate veterinary records using veterinary software while adhering to DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) regulations and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) standards.
- Support front desk operations by communicating with clients effectively, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer service.
- Assist with pet grooming, pet care education for clients, and basic dog training or handling when needed to enhance overall animal well-being.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, veterinary terminology, and medical-surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office tools for record keeping and communication.
- Experience with veterinary critical care practices including animal catheterization, aseptic technique, and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, horses (equine experience preferred), and other companion animals.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients about pet health needs while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with veterinary administrative support tasks such as front desk duties and client communication.
- Knowledge of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines related to veterinary medicine.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
