Basic Function
The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse at RCATS Residential Treatment Center is to provide accessible/on-call, around-the-clock (24/7) nursing care and support to youth and staff
Responsibilities/Tasks
· Oversee the administer psychotropic and general medications to youth according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring accurate dosage and timely delivery.
· Monitor youth for side effects and adverse reactions to medications, document observations and promptly report concerns to prescribing providers and the Treatment Director.
· Maintain comprehensive records of medication administration, including medication logs, consent forms, and inventory tracking in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
· Educate youth, staff, and caregivers about medication regimens, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
· Coordinate with physicians, pharmacists, and behavioral health specialists to evaluate medication effectiveness, adjust regimens as needed, and facilitate medication reviews.
· Safeguard all medications by ensuring secure storage, handling, and disposal in accordance with facility policies and legal requirements.
· Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss medication management strategies and contribute to individualized care planning for each youth.
Minimum Qualifications
· Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
· Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health, pediatric, or residential treatment settings.
· Strong knowledge of psychotropic and general medication administration, including monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions.
· Proficiency in maintaining accurate medication records and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
· Effective communication skills for educating youth, staff, and caregivers about medication regimens and treatment plans.
· Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external healthcare providers.
· Familiarity with secure medication storage, handling, and disposal procedures.
· Capacity to contribute to individualized care planning and promote the safety and well-being of youth in care.
Pay: $35.00 - $62.00 per hour
