Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of vehicles, heavy equipment, and lawn maintenance equipment. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues; performing preventive maintenance; maintaining accurate service records; managing parts and inventory; and ensuring company equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational.
Core Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing.
- Maintain and repair fleet vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and lawn maintenance equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair small engines and related systems.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe equipment storage and maintenance areas.
- Track parts usage, maintain inventory, and order required parts and supplies by phone or computer.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and service records for all equipment.
- Perform equipment overhauls, rebuilding, and major repairs as needed.
- Work independently and complete assignments with little to no supervision.
- Communicate effectively regarding equipment condition, repair needs, parts requirements, and maintenance schedules.
Equipment Experience
Experience working with a variety of the following equipment is preferred:
- Gas and diesel trucks
- Medium-duty trucks equipped with air brakes
- Trailers
- Bobcats and attachments
- Heavy equipment
- Small tractors
- Salt spreaders and snow plows
- Zero-turn, riding, walk-behind, and push mowers
- String trimmers, hedge trimmers, and other small gas-powered equipment
Technical Skills
- Fleet maintenance and repair
- Small engine repair

- Automotive electrical diagnostics

Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout the day
- Must provide own tools
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
