Job Description: Construction Inspector

Position Summary
The Construction Inspector is responsible for monitoring and evaluating construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role conducts field inspections, documents findings, and works closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues and maintain construction quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Perform on site inspections of construction work to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and standards.

Monitor construction progress and identify deviations, deficiencies, or safety concerns.

Document inspection results, including daily reports, photographs, measurements, and corrective actions.

Review construction plans, permits, and technical documents to prepare for inspections.

Communicate findings to contractors, engineers, and project managers and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.

Verify materials, equipment, and workmanship meet quality and performance requirements.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA and site specific safety protocols.

Participate in project meetings and provide updates on inspection status and field conditions.

Assist with testing procedures, such as soil compaction, concrete sampling, or utility pressure tests (depending on project type).

Maintain accurate records for audits, closeout packages, and regulatory reporting.
Work Environment

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

1 to 3+ years of experience supporting projects in a professional environment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, Procore).

Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PMBOK) is a plus.

Certifications such as CAPM or PMP (in progress or completed) are beneficial.
