Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, with extensive experience in diverse clinical settings. As an LPN, you will provide essential nursing services, support patient assessments, administer medications, and assist in developing individualized care plans.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and established protocols, including IV infusion and catheterization procedures.
- Support physicians and healthcare teams during diagnostic evaluations, medical imaging procedures, and surgical interventions such as spinal taps or suturing.
- Monitor patients' conditions closely, providing critical care support in settings like ICU or Level I trauma centers when required.
- Assist with patient intake, discharge planning, and education on disease management strategies such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, pain management, or hospice care.
- Maintain sterile techniques during specimen collection/processing and ensure infection control standards are upheld at all times.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while adhering to HIPAA guidelines; utilize EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate recordkeeping.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient management.
- Strong skills in medication administration—including injections—and venipuncture techniques; capable of managing IV insertion and ventilator support when necessary.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments with attention to detail; experience with tube feeding or gastric lavage is advantageous.
- Familiarity with infection control practices and aseptic techniques across multiple specialties including ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), neonatal ventilator management, and emergency medicine.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage management and patient education; experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards combined with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while providing compassionate patient care across geriatrics or behavioral health populations.
