At VHS Rehabilitation, we believe that compassionate rehabilitation and personalized therapy are essential to helping residents regain strength, mobility, and independence. Guided by our core values of Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled therapy services that promote recovery and improve quality of life.
Responsibilities for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in evaluating residents and implementing individualized treatment plans based on physician orders.
Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, massage, traction, and therapeutic modalities, including heat, cold, water, light, and electrical stimulation, as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Monitor resident progress and communicate changes in strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, gait, activities of daily living, and equipment needs to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Accurately document treatments, resident responses, and progress in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote positive resident outcomes.
Maintain professional competency by participating in continuing education, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment that promotes resident independence and well-being.
Qualifications for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
Graduate of a two-year Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Minimum of one (1) year of clinical Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
Current CPR certification required.
Must meet the qualifications for a Physical Therapist Assistant under the Federal Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies established by CMS.
Current PTA license in the state of Virginia, if required by state regulations.
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
