Status: Full-Time, Hourly
Pay Rate: $25.50 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

Position Summary
The Warehouse & Delivery Associate plays a key role in ensuring food reaches local families, seniors, and partner agencies throughout the Tri-Valley. This hands-on position combines warehouse operations, food distribution, donor pickups, and delivery driving. The ideal candidate enjoys physical work, values teamwork, and takes pride in maintaining safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles to transport food and supplies between the food bank, partner agencies, donors, and distribution sites.
- Load, unload, and safely handle food products, including refrigerated and shelf-stable items.
- Receive, inspect, sort, organize, and store incoming food donations and purchased products.
- Assist with food distribution activities and support partner agencies during scheduled pickups.
- Operate warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- Maintain organized storage areas and support inventory management practices.
- Help ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment, including sweeping, sanitizing, and waste removal.
- Monitor vehicles and equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Support volunteers during warehouse and distribution activities.
- Assist with special projects and other duties that support food bank operations.
Qualifications
- Current valid California Driver License with an insurable driving record that meets Open Heart Kitchen's vehicle insurance requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and perform physical work throughout the day, including standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, or mobile devices for data entry and recordkeeping.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements
- Proof of a negative TB test (renewal required every four years).
