SUMMARY
CSRs are often the first point of contact for consumers needing assistance and, as such, require a commitment to MCH's mission, vision, and values. The best CSRs are genuinely excited to help customers.
This position serves as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) for the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) helpline during the Medicare Part D & Advantage Plan Open Enrollment Period (OEP), which runs from October 15th to December 7th. The position provides direct information/referral assistance to callers, including adhering to the highest standards for customer service and maintaining information in appropriate databases. It requires the consistent, accurate collection and documentation of callers’ information, and timely referral to appropriate agencies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer the helpline, gather caller information, and refer calls to appropriate community partners, volunteers, and staff.
- Schedule enrollment event appointments as needed.
- Make appointment reminder calls.
- Assist with mailings.
- Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
Other
- Participate in training and staff meetings as requested.
- Complete timesheets daily and approve them in a timely manner according to company policy.

Education and/or Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Experience in a customer relations position, preferably telephone, is beneficial.
Language Skills
· Excellent communication is a must.
Mathematical Skills
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
· Ability to adapt/respond to different types of clients.
Computer Skills
· Proficient use of the internet.
· Intermediate knowledge level of standard office software, including email, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
· Ability to type at least 40 WPM.
Other Qualifications
· Must be able to sit for long periods.
· Patient and empathetic.
· Must not have been employed by an insurance company within the last 12 months.
