We hand-roll, cold-ferment, boil, and bake our bagels in-house every day. We pair them with thoughtful sandwiches, quality coffee, and genuine hospitality.

Position Overview
The Barista & Guest Experience Team Member is responsible for creating exceptional guest experiences while supporting daily café operations.
This is primarily a café position responsible for guest service, beverage preparation (espresso, coffee, tea, mimosas, etc.), POS operation, food handoff, and supporting the overall operation of the café. This position may include cross training with back of house stations, based on need and interest.
We are looking for hospitality-minded people who enjoy working with others, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in quality, consistency, and service.
Compensation
- $19.75 per hour
- Participation in the company tip pool (estimated to add $5-$8/hr)
- Part-time and full-time opportunities available
Tips are pooled and distributed among eligible hourly team members in accordance with company policy and California law.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience
- Welcome guests with warmth and enthusiasm
- Help guests navigate the menu and answer questions
- Learn regular guests' names and preferences
- Deliver genuine hospitality during every interaction
- Resolve routine guest concerns professionally
- Help create a café environment that feels welcoming, relaxed, and community-oriented
Barista & Beverage Service
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and other beverages to company standards
- Maintain beverage quality and consistency during busy service periods
- Keep espresso equipment and beverage stations clean and organized
- Restock supplies throughout shifts
Register & POS
- Accurately enter orders into Toast POS
- Process cash and credit card transactions
- Maintain order accuracy and attention to detail
- Support loyalty program enrollment and guest engagement initiatives
Café Operations
- Support food handoff and order fulfillment
- Maintain dining room, patio, condiment stations, and guest-facing areas
- Assist with stocking, merchandising, and daily café setup
- Support teammates wherever needed during busy periods
Opening & Closing Responsibilities
- Complete assigned opening and closing checklists
- Stock stations and prepare service areas
- Clean and reset the café for the next shift
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
What We're Looking ForRequired
- At least 1 year of barista experience
- Experience preparing espresso beverages in a café or coffee shop environment
- Experience using POS systems in a fast-paced hospitality setting
- Strong communication and guest-service skills
- Ability to stay organized and composed during busy service periods
Preferred
- Toast POS experience
- Experience in a café, bakery, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment
- Knowledge of food, coffee, baking, or specialty food products
- Experience working in a fast-paced team environment

Bonnie Bagels operates as one team. While this role is primarily front of house, team members are expected to support the overall operation, including stocking, cleaning, light food preparation, and other tasks as needed.
Schedule Expectations
- Part-time and full-time opportunities available
- Most team members can expect approximately 20–35 hours per week
- Weekend availability is strongly preferred
- Opening and closing shifts required based on business needs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced food-service environment
- Ability to bend, reach, carry, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a shift

Hiring Timeline
- Applications reviewed on a rolling basis
- Qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person open house on Friday, June 19th. Availability to attend is strongly preferred to move forward.
- Final interviews and paid assessment shifts to follow shortly after the open house
- Hiring decisions made on a rolling basis through late June
- Target start: early July to support training and opening week, ahead of our soft open (currently planned for July 8th, but subject to change)
