Position Summary
MUST BE ABLE TO COOK AND PREPARE FOOD - The Mobile Food & Nutrition Truck Coordinator/Driver is responsible for the safe operation, coordination, and daily management of the SCACAP Comprehensive Nutrition & Healthy Eating Initiative (CNHEI) Mobile Food & Nutrition Truck. This position serves as both the commercial driver and on-site coordinator for mobile food and nutrition outreach events across South Carolina.
The Coordinator/Driver will transport the mobile unit to community locations, assist with healthy cooking demonstrations, food distribution events, nutrition education activities, and represent SCACAP with professionalism while promoting healthy lifestyles and food security initiatives. This position requires extensive travel throughout South Carolina and occasional evening and weekend work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Vehicle Operations
- Safely operate the SCACAP Mobile Food & Nutrition Truck throughout South Carolina.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and service appointments.
- Maintain all required CDL documentation and driving records.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Program Coordination
- Coordinate travel schedules for community outreach events.
- Assist with planning and logistics for mobile nutrition events.
- Set up and break down equipment before and after events.
- Manage inventory of food, supplies, cooking equipment, and educational materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory and distribution records.
Community Outreach
- Represent SCACAP professionally at community events.
- Assist with healthy cooking demonstrations.
- Support nutrition education activities.
- Provide excellent customer service to community members.
- Build positive relationships with community partners.
- Assist with food distributions and wellness events.
Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.
- Maintain proper food storage temperatures.
- Monitor sanitation practices.
- Follow all health department guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining required food preparation standards.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete required reports and travel documentation.
- Maintain mileage, fuel, and maintenance records.
- Assist with grant reporting information.
- Maintain event attendance and participation records.
- Participate in staff meetings and training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of experience driving commercial vehicles.
- Valid South Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B or higher with Passenger (P) Endorsement preferred).
- Clean driving record acceptable for agency insurance.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout South Carolina.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during community events.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL Passenger (P) Endorsement strongly preferred.
- Technical school training in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Commercial Cooking, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Current Food Protection Manager Certification (ServSafe® or equivalent).
- Experience operating food trucks or mobile kitchens.
- Experience with community outreach or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience conducting cooking demonstrations.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking equipment and vehicle controls.

Licenses and Certifications
Required
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
Preferred

Pay: $2,000.00 - $3,000.00 per week
