We are searching for a patient, kind, loving and fun caregiver for our 36-year-old special needs daughter. Our daughter suffered a stroke in utero and as a result suffered brain injury resulting in cerebral palsy. She has both mental and physical handicaps. She loves to walk but has a balance problem and cannot walk alone. We would like to see her more independent but as of now she still needs assistance with all living skills including bathing, eating, and dressing. There is no lifting involved but the caregiver has to be physically able to assist with balance when walking, getting in and out of the bathtub and other physical activities. She has no use of her right hand and only gross motor skills of her left. She loves to talk but has problems with word retrieval and normal conversations. She is very loving and social but when frustrated, tired etc she can have behavior problems. She can have physical and verbal aggressions. We are looking for someone who has had experience with special needs, behavior problems and who will become our daughter's best friend and a part of our family. We would love someone with a college degree in special education or psychology.
We are seeking an individual available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The required hours are start at 6:00 and on Saturdays, extended hours may go until around 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm and Sundays generally until 9PM. At this time, we would also need a caregiver with a driver's license, good driving record and reliable vehicle. Salary would depend on education and experience.
