The Audience Services department plays an integral role in promoting a safe, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. By delivering unsurpassed customer service we build
loyalty and trust within our community. Usher Captains work closely with Head Ushers to set up the lobby areas, identify and respond to the needs of the volunteer ushers and patrons, resolve problems as they are presented, and stand ready to respond to any situation. The assigned shifts and performance venues will vary depending on performance schedules and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work hours and shift assignments are not guaranteed.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide assistance to the Head Ushers, volunteers, and patrons before, during, and after the
performance. -
Assist head Ushers in setting up for the scheduled event, which may include inspecting the
lobby, inserting stuffers into programs, and delivering them for distribution. -
Maintain a position at an assigned entrance door into the auditorium and be available to assist
the patrons or ushers. Hand out programs and assist patrons to find their seats. -
Resolve any issues that arise, such as seating issues and disruptive patrons. Bring any unresolved
problems to the Head Usher’s attention. -
Following the performance, inspect the audience seating area for potential articles that may
have been left by patrons. -
Work with Head Ushers to collect volunteer ID badges at the conclusion of the assigned event.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED
-
1-2 years’ experience working in a customer service/public environment, person to person.

Working as a volunteer usher at a theater a plus.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Dependable and flexible, able to meet the minimum requirements of the work schedule.

May need to work later than scheduled if a performance runs long.
LANGUAGE and MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
-
Possess excellent communication, listening, and English-speaking skills.

Basic math skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-
Walk and/or stand for periods of up to two or more hours.

Walk up and down stairs and slanted walkways.

Possess keen eyesight (close and distance) either naturally or with corrected vision and can
adjust eye focus in differing lighting situations. -
Clear speaking ability and have sufficient hearing to able to communicate effectively.

Reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
WORK CONDITIONS

Noise level in the work environment may fluctuate from quiet to loud.

May be exposed to outside weather conditions.
