Shift Supervisor- Chemical Blending Facility; Ennis, TX
Genesis Custom Chemical Blending is seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead day-shift operations at our Ennis, TX blending facility. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality-compliant operation of custom chemical blending processes during the shift, while directly supervising blend operators and supporting production staff. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong safety mindset, solid chemical or industrial manufacturing experience, and the ability to keep a fast-paced blending operation running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-shift blending operations, ensuring batches are produced safely, on schedule, and in accordance with customer formulations and specifications.
- Serve as the on-shift safety leader, enforcing PPE requirements, Process Safety Management (PSM) practices, hazard communication (HazCom) standards, and all applicable OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor workflow, and adjust staffing and priorities to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Review and approve batch tickets, blend sheets, and quality control documentation; verify raw material lot numbers, weights, and blend sequences before release.
- Conduct pre-shift safety briefings, toolbox talks, and routine equipment/area inspections; document and escalate any near-misses, incidents, or non-conformances.
- Train, coach, and evaluate blend operators and material handlers; support onboarding of new hires and cross-training on blending equipment.
- Coordinate with the Quality, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues, material shortages, and quality holds with minimal disruption to the schedule.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, production records, and inventory counts; communicate shift-to-shift handoff information clearly and completely.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of raw materials, blended products, and chemical waste in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, throughput, and cost control.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, blending, or industrial production, including prior lead or supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA process safety standards, HazCom/GHS, and general chemical handling and storage practices.
- Experience with batch record systems, ERP/MRP production software, and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Forklift certification and/or experience operating blending, pumping, or material-handling equipment is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret SDS sheets, formulation instructions, and quality specifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and chemical odors typical of a blending facility.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods, and to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to properly wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators as applicable.
