Job Description:
The Accountant is responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting duties for several Playhouse locations as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:

Centralized bookkeeping and monthly closings
- Enter expense and deposit transactions and necessary journal entries into financial accounting system.

Monitor and track grant revenue and expenses to ensure compliance with donor and grantor restrictions.

Secures required documentation from the Playhouse locations.

Communicates and resolves accounting issues that arise in a timely manner.

Reconcile bank account statements and balance sheet accounts.

Provides monthly financial statement packages.
- Ensure timely monthly billing and collection of all intercompany receivables, escalating when any locations are more than 60 days behind in their payments.

Collects annual budgets from Treasurers and monitors budget-to-actual performance to identify financial risks.

Provides timely response to all requests from external auditors, tax accountants, and compliance professionals

Supports proper Playhouse financial practices and controls
- Ensure proper controls are in place at Playhouses.

Coaches Playhouse staff on proper documentation and processes to ensure a smooth monthly closing process.

Review Financial Health “Standards of Execution” with local Board Treasurers to assess their status and to provide goals for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or a minimum four years related experience in accounting/bookkeeping including accounts payable and accounts receivable for small businesses. Experience working for non-profit organizations a big plus.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel (including use of pivot tables), Outlook, and Teams. Sage Intacct accounting system experience a plus.
