This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203.
As the Licensed Practical Nurse, Institutional, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to an assigned area. Cross train and float to other lodges as needed. This position requires the ability to work with all genders in the Adult and Child and Adolescent population.
Responsibilities for the Licensed Practical Nurse, Institutional:-
Provide safe and therapeutic direct patient care considering patient needs, cultural and social differences, age, and specific educational needs.

Transcribe physician's orders accurately; safely administer medication and treatments; document patient's response tendencies.

Participate in area-based Performance Improvement activities and evaluate the quality of patient care, effectiveness of nursing practice, and outcome of care.

Use therapeutic communication and demonstrate age-specific competencies reflecting knowledge of cultural diversity in caring for patients. Assist in establishing and assuring that the lodge environment is safe, clean, and therapeutic with consideration of age, culture and practice.

Provide for patient treatment and other patient care activities.

Acquire, maintain, and demonstrate current knowledge of policies, procedures, directives, and Nursing Practices needed to provide quality patient care.

Attend at least 20 hours of training per year in addition to all mandatory. training.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.

Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Additional Requirements:-
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive patient behaviors.

Must be able to work beyond scheduled hours as required to meet safe staffing standards/regulatory requirements.

Available Work Schedules:
Option 1: 3-Day Work Week DAYS (7:00 AM - 8:00 PM)
Option 2: 3-Day Work Week NIGHTS (7:00 PM - 8:00 AM)
Option 3: 4-Day Workweek Combination Two 12-hr DAY/Two 8-hr EVENING (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Option 4: 4-Day Workweek Combination Two 12-hr NIGHT/Two 8-hr NIGHT (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
