Position Title: Long-Term Substitute Teacher – 7th Grade Math & Science
Reports To: School Principal
Location: L.E.A.D. Academy Public Charter School
Employment Status: Temporary/Long-Term Substitute
L.E.A.D. Academy Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instruction in 7th Grade Mathematics and Science. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive learning environment, deliver standards-based instruction, implement lesson plans, monitor student progress, and uphold the mission and values of L.E.A.D. Academy while the regular classroom teacher is on leave.
Provide daily instruction in 7th Grade Mathematics and Science using the Alabama Course of Study standards.
Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the school or develop appropriate lessons as needed.
Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and student growth.
Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures.
Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, projects, and informal assessments.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records in accordance with school procedures.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, special education staff, and fellow teachers to support student success.
Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
Follow all L.E.A.D. Academy policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Valid Alabama teaching certificate preferred; eligible applicants with relevant teaching experience may be considered.
Experience teaching middle school mathematics and/or science is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a classroom and build positive relationships with students.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to integrate instructional technology into classroom instruction.
Must successfully complete all required background checks.
Knowledge of middle school mathematics and science content.
Understanding of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
Ability to analyze student data to guide instruction.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods.
Ability to lift instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor areas.
This position is performed in a school setting and may include classroom instruction, supervision during school activities, and participation in school-related events.
Temporary, full-time assignment for the duration of the teacher's leave.
Salary and benefits will be determined according to L.E.A.D. Academy's approved substitute pay schedule and Board policies.
