Industrial Painter Foreman
Position Summary
The Industrial Painter Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating industrial painting and coating activities on construction, maintenance, turnaround, and capital projects. This role oversees a crew of painters and helpers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and company policies. The Foreman serves as the primary point of contact between craft personnel and site management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead industrial painters, blasters, and painter helpers on assigned projects.
- Plan, organize, and assign daily work activities to ensure productivity and schedule adherence.
- Ensure proper surface preparation, abrasive blasting, coating application, and finishing techniques are performed according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, coating specifications, engineering drawings, and work packages.
- Monitor coating thickness, environmental conditions, and quality control requirements.
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings and enforce all site safety policies and procedures.
- Inspect work areas and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed for project execution.
- Train and mentor crew members on proper painting techniques, safety practices, and quality expectations.
- Complete daily reports, timekeeping documentation, and progress updates.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and client representatives.
- Identify and resolve work-related issues to minimize delays and maintain project schedules.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and storage of painting equipment and tools.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas.
- Read Pid's do material takeoff, and field work requisitions.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial painting experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial coatings, surface preparation methods, and painting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret project specifications and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of coating inspection requirements and quality control standards.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- TWIC Card preferred where required.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Knowledge of spray application equipment, abrasive blasting equipment, and coating systems.
- Familiarity with refinery, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, or marine environments.
- Ability to identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Proficient in maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when necessary.
Work Environment
- Industrial construction and maintenance environments including refineries, petrochemical plants, manufacturing facilities, power plants, and marine facilities.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- May require overtime, weekend work, and travel depending on project needs.
