HAVEN of Tioga County, a non-profit agency that provides services to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, has an opening for a Community and Systems Advocate. This position is Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 8:30-4:00 business hours, with some flexibility, and occasional evening and weekend hours. Additional hours or flexibility may be approved by the Executive Director.
- Starting hourly rate range is $15-$16.50 and is based off of experience and skill; earned periodic raises.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Community and Systems Advocate at HAVEN of Tioga County is responsible for overseeing systems advocacy efforts and community relations activities aimed at engaging, improving, and maintaining public support to ensure HAVEN can effectively serve and empower those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
The Core Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Activities designed to affect community policy/procedures to improve or maintain a system’s response to persons whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault within Tioga County.
- Regular communication with local agencies and businesses for further partnership and collaborative approaches.
- Outreach, community educational programming, and advocacy efforts to gain partnerships and resources within the community to fulfill the identified limitations or barriers to various client needs.
- Coordinate special Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month events and activities.
- Conduct engagement and information sharing through social media outlets, email blasts, PSA’s, and other means of communication.
- Direct Services such as Individual client advocacy and case management on an as needed basis.
- On-call and hotline coverage as assigned.
- Manage and process incoming donations.
- Enter and maintain data in ETO (agency's statistical database).
- General office duties.
- Report to the Executive Director’s supervision and perform any other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, communications, education, or similar field, or have related experience.
- Non-profit work experience preferred, but not required.
- Must reside within Tioga County, PA or live within 45 minute response time to successfully provide on-call coverage as assigned.
- Promote, support, and abide by HAVEN’s mission to serve and empower those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Commitment to social justice as demonstrated by activism and advocacy
- Familiarity of current resources and service/benefits programs in Tioga County.
- Be Tech-savvy, have familiarity with Canva or similar graphic design platform, and website design experience.
- Proficiency in computer related skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with underserved populations.
- Must be comfortable talking with people and engaging strangers.
- Must have flexibility in working evenings and weekends as needed, to fulfill outreach/programming scheduled commitments.
- Must be able to think critically and creatively, be self-directed, detail oriented, and have excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in groups
- Must have a valid PA driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Have or be willing to complete 40 hour Domestic Violence/40 hour Sexual Assault training within 60 days of hire (provided by HAVEN)
- Must complete a minimum of 8 hours on-going training related to domestic violence topics and 8 hours of on-going training related to sexual assault topics each year.
- Active FBI, Criminal Background, and Child Abuse Clearances required
