These materials support a wide range of industrial and advanced composite markets, including aerospace, energy, transportation, civil engineering, pressure vessels, and other engineered applications.
The Technical Services organization plays a central role in shaping long-term growth by supporting strategic customers, application development, and ensuring Teijin’s overall technical savvy in the marketplace.
Job Summary
The Technical Services Engineer Performs customer-related technical service to support the application of carbon fiber, short (chopped/milled) fiber & OPF in downstream textile and composite manufacturing processes. A key part of this role is to be a key customer technical interface. This direct communication with the customer will allow direct and efficient information flow to help customers solve issues as well as help our team define the specific technical needs of our customers to support new and existing business growth. This position will interact with international and domestic manufacturing locations to coordinate responses to customer activities and support QA team to resolve customer complaints. The Technical Services Engineer will be a member of the Technical Services team that will carry out these responsibilities.
The Technical Services Engineer reports to the Technical Services Manager and operates under the strategic leadership of the Director of Marketing and Strategy – Americas. This position will be based on-site within Teijin Carbon’s office & application lab space at our sister company Renegade Materials in Miamisburg, Ohio and will periodically travel domestically to meet with sales personnel and customers, as well as our manufacturing facilities in Rockwood, TN and Greenwood, SC. Some International travel may be required for training, shows, and conferences. Attend technical conferences to learn market and technical trends and report findings to the team. Up to 30% travel will be required.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of Teijin Carbon products and manufacturing processes as well as our customer’s application and processes
- Develop relationships with new and existing customers with the support of the Sales & Marketing teams to serve as a customer technical interface to drive solutions
- Provide technical support to Sales & Marketing team during customer interactions
- Support customer qualification programs
- Draft, review, mark-up, and approve internal and customer specifications as required
- Support Change Management programs, i.e., material substitutions, process changes, etc. both internally and customer-facing activities
- Support manufacturing sites in Tennessee and South Carolina for process improvement and new product development and production site transfers
- Establish good working relationships with customer and internal personnel at all levels of the organization
- Communicate effectively Teijin’s product portfolio’s technical characteristics and offer consultation
- Train team members technical aspects of our products
- Apply structured problem-solving to identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Lead multi-functional teams in support of various initiatives
- Execute projects using project management skills, drive projects to completion with team resources

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Mechanical, Aerospace, Textiles, or related fields
- Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Proven experience in the composites and/or textile industry
- Must be able to obtain appropriate clearances to enter secured facilities
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Administrative, R&D, Operations, and global teams.
- Must be action oriented- be able to develop, define objectives and implement action work plans
- Experience in supporting both Internal and External Customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with customers, internal stakeholders, and senior management.
- Comfortable operating in an international environment and collaborating across cultures and regions.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and statistical analysis tools like JMP a plus
