Job Summary
Max African Hair Braiding is seeking a talented, dependable, and customer-focused Hair Braider/Hair Stylist to join our growing team in Detroit. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating beautiful hairstyles, providing exceptional customer service, and helping clients feel confident.
Whether you specialize in traditional African braiding techniques or have experience with a variety of protective styles, we welcome skilled professionals who take pride in their craft and enjoy working in a fast-paced salon environment.
Duties
- Perform professional hair braiding services, including box braids, knotless braids, cornrows, twists, feed-in braids, faux locs, crochet styles, and other protective styles.
- Consult with clients to understand their desired style and recommend appropriate services.
- Shampoo, condition, and prepare hair when needed.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation at all times.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming salon experience.
- Manage appointments efficiently while maintaining high-quality work.
- Recommend hair care products and provide clients with aftercare instructions.
- Follow all salon policies and sanitation standards.
- Work collaboratively with other stylists to create a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hair braiding and protective styling preferred.
- Ability to create neat, consistent, and long-lasting braid styles.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced salon setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to client satisfaction.
- Hair styling or cosmetology experience is a plus. (Licensing requirements may vary based on applicable Michigan regulations.)
