The Hydrogeologist III position in the Environmental Evaluation Section (EM&ES) involves technical hydrogeological work with administrative and supervisory responsibility. The incumbent in this position is responsible for conducting technical reviews of site rehabilitation documents, and as applicable, supervising environmental professionals in their review and response to technical reports related to contamination assessment, petroleum cleanup, tank closure assessment, solid waste and soil reuse. Additionally, this position may involve the planning, supervising and coordination of soil and groundwater sampling and data reporting performed by EM&ES staff. The position requires strong familiarity with the FDEP’s Standard Operating Procedures and federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing the assessment and cleanup of contaminated and solid waste sites, and requires a considerable amount of contact with environmental consultants, the public, regulatory agencies, and RER/DERM staff. Typical assignments are broad in scope with considerable opportunity for exercising independent judgment and making complex decisions.
