We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic Foreman to lead our Engineering Department while remaining actively involved in the maintenance and repair of our fleet.

Schedule
- Full-Time
- Must be available to work weekends
- Shifts:
- 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 7 years of diesel mechanic experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Foreman, Lead Mechanic, or supervising a team of diesel technicians.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (or higher).
- Clean driving record.
- Weekend availability.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Proficient with Cummins INSITE software and diesel engine diagnostics.
- Experience working with:
- Air-powered tools
- Welding equipment
- Wheel balancing and tire repair equipment
- Hydraulic lifts and jacks
- Torque wrenches, grinders, drill presses, and other shop equipment
- Must provide and maintain your own mechanic tools.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
Preferred
- Experience maintaining commercial buses, coaches, or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Knowledge of DOT inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic Foreman is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Engineering Department while performing advanced diagnostics, major repairs, and preventative maintenance on our fleet of sightseeing buses. This position requires a motivated leader who can effectively direct the work of mechanics, maintain a safe work environment, and ensure all repairs meet company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of diesel mechanics and mechanic helpers.
- Assign, monitor, and prioritize daily maintenance and repair work.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Perform major repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, steering, brakes, cooling systems, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
- Rebuild, replace, and repair major vehicle assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and routine servicing.
- Analyze engine performance and perform tune-ups as needed.
- Perform welding, minor fabrication, and body repairs when necessary.
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality workmanship and safety.
- Estimate labor hours and parts required for repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance records.
- Ensure all shop tools and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition.
- Correct unsafe working conditions and immediately report hazards that cannot be corrected.
- Operate buses and company vehicles as needed.
- Participate in department meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering staff to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Report to work on time in the required company uniform.
Physical & Working Conditions
This position works in a fast-paced maintenance shop and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Employees should be comfortable with:
- Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, vapors, noise, and whole-body vibration.
- Working inside and underneath heavy vehicles.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Working around moving mechanical equipment and potentially hazardous conditions while following all safety procedures.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 80 pounds.
