Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as a Charge Nurse within our healthcare facility. As a Charge Nurse, you will oversee daily nursing operations, coordinate patient services, and provide mentorship to nursing staff. Duties
- Lead and coordinate nursing care for patients across various units, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to promote professional development.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform specialized procedures such as catheterization and sterile processing.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, case managers, and specialists in areas such as geriatrics, dementia care, hospice care, and acute pain management.
- Oversee infection control practices and ensure adherence to safety protocols in all patient care activities.
- Assist with discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of post-acute or outpatient services.
Skills
- Valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse with current state certification.
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Proficiency in critical care settings including ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments; experience in emergency medicine is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
- Skilled in IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration—including complex injections—and tube feeding management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or behavioral health needs.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments accurately while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques; familiarity with medical imaging or laboratory procedures is advantageous.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in fast-paced environments such as hospitals or outpatient clinics.
