Lynx Cat Mountain Quarry supplies rock and aggregate products to customers in the High Desert. Our goal is to produce products that will consistently meet or exceed our customer’s specifications. We help get military, commercial, residential, or municipal projects started and completed using the finest aggregate materials in the high desert. We’re located in Hinkley, CA, near Barstow in Southern California.
Job Description:
Lynx Cat Mountain Quarry is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a solid background in mobile heavy equipment/yellow iron machinery. This role involves the repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy machinery, such as loaders, dozers, backhoes, and excavators, to ensure they are operating effectively/efficiently and are able to be utilized for daily quarry and plant operations.
The ideal candidate has worked in a rock quarry/aggregate quarry setting previously (though this is not a requirement) and has experience in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnoses and repairs differentials, diesel/pneumatic/hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
- Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist.
- Complete documentation of records such as work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil samples
- Rebuild engines, transmissions, and other major components of mobile heavy equipment
- Coordinate with operators and site surveyors on preventative maintenance schedules for machinery
- Maintain effective communication with other team members to ensure seamless operation.
- Routinely climbs ladders; lifts, carries, and moves materials weighing 50 lbs.
- Assist with general plant operations and perform other tasks as needed.
“Fit for Duty” Requirements:
- Medical Fitness: Applicants to whom the Company makes an offer must pass a “Fitness for Duty” examination. The FFD examination may include a physical examination, drug/alcohol screening, and respiratory function testing.
- Essential Functions: Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, which include, but are not limited to: lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Failure to pass the “Fitness for Duty” examination and /or to demonstrate the ability to safely perform essential functions, may result in the Company withdrawing an offer of employment.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience with repair/maintenance of mobile heavy/yellow iron equipment (loaders, dozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, water trucks, dump/haul trucks, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform maintenance on various types of systems (diesel, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify various mechanical/electrical issues in machinery
- MUST POSSESS YOUR OWN TOOLS FOR THIS POSITION
- Knowledge of welding is preferred but not required
- Commitment to safety.
- Knowledge of OSHA and/or MSHA is preferred but not required.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
