Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant who will work alongside our Reading Interventionist. In this role, you will focus on supporting students who need targeted literacy assistance, helping them develop essential reading skills and confidence. Responsibilities
- Implement engaging, evidence-based reading intervention lessons tailored to individual student needs with the support of the lead Reading Interventionist.
- Assess students’ literacy levels regularly to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and parents to develop comprehensive support plans for students
- Utilize a variety of instructional tools and techniques, including phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension strategies, and multisensory activities
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and growth
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, interventions provided, and communication with stakeholders
- Incorporate early childhood development principles and specialized techniques for working with children with disabilities or autism
Requirements
- Proven experience in teaching or providing reading intervention to young children in preschool or early elementary settings
- Strong background in literacy education, childhood development, and classroom management
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individual student needs
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students’ families
- Technical proficiency in educational software, assessment tools, and curriculum development platforms
- Prior experience in an elementary school setting is preferred
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom that supports diverse learners through tailored instructional approaches
