What You'll Do
As an HHA or PCA, you'll play a vital role in helping clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
- Support mobility, ambulation, transfers, and positioning
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding when needed
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Perform light housekeeping and laundry
- Remind clients about medications, as permitted by care plans
- Monitor and report changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time
- Follow care plans, agency policies, infection-control procedures, and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
Required
- Active New York State Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Aide (PCA) certification/ willing to get certified in NYS (People Care will train you)
- Ability to assist clients safely with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical caregiving tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to travel to client homes within assigned service areas (throughout NYS)
Preferred
- Experience in home care, senior care, personal care, companion care, or caregiving
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused
