Senior Litigation Paralegal
Jones Injury Law Group | Houston, TX
A boutique firm. A family-oriented team. Thoughtful, careful work. We are looking for a skilled, autonomous litigation paralegal ready to add value from day one.
Jones Injury Law Group is a Houston plaintiff personal injury boutique. We handle motor vehicle accident, medical malpractice, premises liability, and other personal injury cases, with select Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act (TMFPA) and legal malpractice matters in the mix.
Our partners include a Division I athlete and former prosecutor, and a decorated combat veteran and former Texas judge — trial counsel on a team that secured one of the top 50 motor vehicle accident verdicts in Texas history.
Who Thrives Here
Someone knowledgeable, autonomous, and team-oriented. You bring the experience and skill; we provide the cases, the platform, and the mentorship to sharpen your craft.
Required
- Litigation experience with multiple cases worked from petition through trial — full litigation lifecycle, not just pre-suit settlements
- Autonomy and ownership — works independently with minimal supervision
- Punctuality and consistent timeliness — court deadlines, client commitments, internal benchmarks. Non-negotiable.
- Team-oriented mindset — collaborative, communicative, supportive of others
- Exceptional written communication — motions, demands, client updates. Writing sample required.
- Strong verbal communication with clients, providers, courts, and opposing counsel
- Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, court rules, and litigation deadlines
- Experience with eFileTexas, MyCase (or comparable), and Google Workspace
- Comfort with legal research (Westlaw, Lexis, Fastcase, or comparable)
- Drafts complex legal documents with minimal supervision
Preferred
- 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience (candidates with fewer years who clearly demonstrate the required experience will be considered)
- Plaintiff personal injury experience
- Exposure to commercial or complex PI matters (trucking, premises, products, catastrophic injury, med mal, TMFPA) — a plus, not required
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Paralegal certificate or relevant degree
- Prior experience attending civil jury trials in Texas
Do Not Apply If
This role is not a fit for someone seeking micromanagement. Autonomy and teamwork are paramount here. Be honest with yourself before applying.
- You need to be told what to do throughout the day
- You cannot accept constructive critique
- You struggle to meet normal deadlines
- You bring more excuses than solutions
- You have been described in past reviews as “slow” or “needs follow-up”
We’d rather wait for the right hire than make the wrong one.
What You’ll Do
- Drive cases forward. Work a plaintiff PI caseload from suit filing through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas — court-ready the first time.
- Build the record. Summarize medical records, depositions, and discovery. Prepare damages summaries, chronologies, demand packages.
- Run discovery and trial prep. Coordinate discovery, depositions, and experts. Build trial binders, witness lists, exhibit indexes. Attend trial and assist in the courtroom.
- Anchor the client. Respond within 24 hours. Communicate with clarity and empathy.
- Manage the calendar. Deadlines, hearings, mediations, trial settings — lead them, don’t react to them.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $62,550–$80,000 depending on experience
- Trial bonus when you support a case through to verdict
- No mandatory billable hours quota
- Group health insurance access
- Dental and vision insurance
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Free parking
- Hybrid work opportunity after initial performance metrics are met
- Boutique, family-oriented culture — small team, no bureaucracy, real ownership
- Career growth — path to oversight of administrative or junior staff as the firm grows
- Mentorship from a former Texas judge and a former prosecutor — refine your craft alongside attorneys with deep courtroom experience on both sides of the aisle
