Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, and oxygen saturation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Support clinical procedures such as medication administration, X-ray imaging, and basic life support during emergencies within hospital or outpatient settings.
- Document clinical notes accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding to ensure precise recordkeeping for billing and legal purposes.
- Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and assist with specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive experience during every visit.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in clinical environments such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency departments.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for effective patient care.
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems and familiarity with ICD coding for documentation accuracy.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in X-ray operation or medication administration are a plus.
- Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable; familiarity with PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics, or medical-surgical units is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in fast-paced settings such as urgent care or hospital environments.
