Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention standards.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to radiation safety protocols and maintaining accurate medical documentation.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Operate electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details accurately while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Maintain dental equipment including sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of hygiene.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, manage patient management software, and ensure seamless communication within the clinic.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures across various specialties such as endodontics and prosthodontics.
- Experience with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental x-ray units, and other clinical devices safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to support patient care, explain procedures clearly, and coordinate with team members effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
