about this role
as a kitchen porter, you’re the backbone of our kitchen. you keep everything clean, organized, and stocked so our chefs are always well prepared. you’re a key part of the team, making sure every shift flows and every guest experience is supported from behind the scenes.
what you’ll do
dishwashing + equipment care
operate dishwashing equipment safely + efficiently
wash, sanitize, and store cookware + cutlery
ensure all kitchen tools + equipment are clean + ready for service
report any equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly
culinary support
assist chefs with basic prep + portioning tasks when needed
restock kitchen stations with essential items during service
help with deliveries, including unloading and organizing stock
support smooth kitchen flow by clearing and resetting work areas
cleanliness + kitchen standards
maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment
clean floors, walls, surfaces, and storage areas regularly
follow wagamama standards for cleanliness at all times
food safety
follow all food safety and hygiene procedures
support proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients
comply with all local health and safety regulations
team collaboration
communicate clearly and effectively during busy shifts
bring positive energy and a team-first mindset every day
step in to help wherever needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly
skills & qualifications
previous kitchen or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required
ability to work in a fast-paced environment
strong attention to cleanliness and detail
reliable, punctual, and a team player
physical requirements
ability to stand and move for extended periods of time
able to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs
comfortable working in a warm, busy kitchen environment
ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
