The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role focuses on classroom support, supervision, daily routines, and curriculum implementation while maintaining compliance with Missouri DESE licensing regulations and accreditation standards. The Assistant Preschool Teacher works collaboratively, follows direction, and demonstrates professionalism at all times.

Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an early childhood education setting

Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3–5)

Experience supporting classroom routines, transitions, and supervision

Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential – Required
-
Preschool CDA preferred
-
High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
-
Active Missouri Professional Development (MOPD) account
-
Current CPR & First Aid Certification (Infant, Toddler, and Adult)

Completion of all Missouri DESE-required trainings, including but not limited to:
-
Child Abuse & Neglect
-
Safe Sleep (as applicable)
-
Emergency Preparedness
-
Caring for Vulnerable Children
-
Must successfully complete:
-
Comprehensive background screening
-
Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR)
-
Fingerprinting (as required by Missouri)

Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines
-
Maintain constant supervision of children to ensure safety at all times
-
Support smooth transitions between activities and schedules
-
Help maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios
-
Support the implementation of lesson plans and learning activities
-
Encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
-
Engage children in positive, age-appropriate learning experiences
-
Assist with observation and documentation as directed
-
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies
-
Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
-
Report safety concerns, incidents, or unusual behavior immediately
-
Support emergency procedures and drills
-
Assist with daily reports, attendance, and classroom documentation
-
Communicate respectfully with families under the direction of the Lead Teacher
-
Ensure children’s belongings are labeled and stored properly
-
Follow direction from Lead Teachers and Administration
-
Work collaboratively with classroom staff and support team goals
-
Accept feedback professionally and apply it to daily practice

Maintain confidentiality and uphold LPACC policies at all times

Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move throughout the day

Ability to lift and assist children as needed

Maintain active supervision and engagement at all times
