Overview
Deschutes River Cabinet & Closet is seeking a skilled Cabinet Design Engineer to join our team in Bend, OR. This role is ideal for someone with strong cabinet knowledge, excellent drafting skills, advanced Cabinet Vision experience, and the ability to support technical sales conversations with confidence and professionalism.
The Cabinet Design Engineer plays a key role in helping customers move from ideas to accurate, build-ready cabinetry solutions. This person will work closely with clients, designers, sales and production team to clarify project needs, offer practical design guidance, and translate customer expectations into precise drawings and manufacturing details.
While this is not a traditional sales role, it is an important customer-facing position. The right person will help build trust, support project decisions, and strengthen the sales process through product knowledge, technical accuracy, thoughtful problem-solving, and clear in-person communication.
What You’ll Do
- Engineer custom cabinetry using Cabinet Vision based on blueprints, field measurements, customer specifications, and project scope.
- Work directly with builders, designers, and homeowners to translate concepts into accurate cabinet drawings and project details.
- Guide clients through selections for materials, finishes, accessories, and other design details.
- Produce accurate drawings from initial concepts through fully engineered, build-ready plans.
- Create detailed shop drawings including elevations, sections, cabinet details, and component specifications.
- Generate cut lists, reports, machining output, and CNC-ready files aligned with DRCC construction methods.
- Perform occasional site visits for field measurements and project clarification.
- Collaborate with production to ensure drawings are accurate, practical, and ready to build.
- Maintain and improve Cabinet Vision libraries, standards, UCS, and related setup details.
- Resolve design questions, clarify project details, and document revisions clearly.
- Follow up with clients to confirm selections, approvals, and required installation dates.
- Maintain strong communication and manage timelines across sales, design, and production.
What You Bring
- Strong experience in custom cabinet design and cabinet engineering.
- Required proficiency with Cabinet Vision.
- Strong knowledge of cabinet industry terminology, materials, construction methods, and installation requirements.
- Excellent drafting skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, field measurements, and customer specifications.
- Working knowledge of UCS, reports, attributes, S2M, tooling, or Cabinet Vision setup is strongly preferred.
- Good people skills and comfort meeting with clients, contractors, designers, and homeowners.
- Ability to explain technical details clearly and professionally in support of the sales and design process.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $80,000–$95,000 DOE
- The upper range reflects strong Cabinet Vision expertise, advanced cabinet engineering ability, and the ability to support technical sales, and customer conversations.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday 8:00-4:30
- Occasional overtime based on workload and customer needs

This is an onsite position in Bend, OR, supporting close collaboration across sales, design, and production teams.
