American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift perinatal float pool position requiring 2 years of combined L&D and Postpartum experience and an active CA RN license.

Perinatal Float Pool role requiring cross-training and rotation among Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and LDRP units
-
Teaching hospital setting with exposure to high-risk antepartum, high-risk delivery, and complex obstetric cases
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
-
Must be available to work one additional overtime shift per two-week period (7 shifts total) based on unit needs
-
Candidates may float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on census and unit requirements

No blocked or self-scheduling available

Epic charting system preferred, Cerner experience required

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of combined Labor & Delivery and Postpartum experience with demonstrated competency in both areas (hard requirement)

Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required

Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent experience in specialty area within the past 2 years for specialized unit consideration

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced NRP (hard requirement)

Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, BSN
-
Travel experience required, with first-time travelers subject to screening
-
Must pass EKG exam (up to 3 attempts)
-
Skilled in fetal monitoring, high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulating/scrubbing, and postpartum care
-
Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and VBAC
-
Two manager/supervisory references required, including at least one from the specific unit within the past year
-
Rotate among three perinatal units to provide comprehensive L&D, Postpartum, and LDRP care
-
Provide neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring, resuscitation, and thermoregulation
-
Support high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients with conditions such as diabetes, cardiac disease, and substance abuse
-
Assist with surgical procedures including C-sections, cervical cerclage, and tubal ligation
-
Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
-
Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate

No RTO permitted within the first 3 weeks of the assignment

Former UCSD employees must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler and must be approved by UCSD prior to assignment

Manager will provide a minimum of 2 weeks' notice for any schedule changes

Up to 8 hours of non-billable training modules required during orientation and annually
