Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process sales transactions accurately and quickly
- Handle cash register operations, including cash drawer handling, cash handling, and balancing registers at shift end
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Upsell products and promote store specials or promotions to enhance sales opportunities
- Conduct product demos when necessary to educate customers about featured items or new arrivals
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, restocking supplies and merchandising as needed
- Assist with stocking shelves and organizing merchandise to support overall store presentation
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or directing calls within the store
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, or grocery store environments with familiarity in retail math and basic math skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with diverse customers; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Prior experience with POS systems, cash register operations, and cash drawer handling is preferred
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities or team support roles
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and inventory management techniques
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and stock counts
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette
- Previous experience in grocery stores or similar high-volume retail settings is desirable
