Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant to join our fun dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with proficiency in chairside support, patient care, and dental procedures and pediatric dentistry. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment where attention to detail, infection control, and excellent communication are essential. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing exceptional dental care.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and patient positioning for optimal treatment flow.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate imaging while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical and dental records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting with aseptic techniques, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging to support patient safety and comfort.
- Manage patient scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed, providing excellent customer service and facilitating efficient clinic flow.
- Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and adhering to OSHA guidelines.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care using clear dental terminology tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
- Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to improve efficiency and patient experience across general dentistry services.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical documentation and records.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging, and vital signs monitoring within a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy, and dental terminology relevant to various specialties including pediatric dentistry.
- Ability to perform dental assisting duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred but not required.
