POSITION SUMMARY:
The Welcome Center Receptionist is the first point of contact for members, guests, and visitors, and plays a key role in delivering a positive YMCA experience. Responsibilities include greeting and serving members, answering phones, processing membership and program transactions, providing accurate information about YMCA services, and ensuring a welcoming, safe, and professional environment. The Receptionist is expected to build strong, meaningful relationships with members, maintain high accuracy in transactions, and uphold the YMCA’s mission and values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Previous customer service experience required; YMCA or nonprofit experience preferred.
· Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with computers and ability to learn YMCA membership software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Specific Functions:
· Greet and serve members, guests, and program participants in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
· Learn and use members’ names and demonstrate genuine interest in their well-being and goals.
· Answer telephones using a professional greeting and route calls appropriately.
· Provide accurate information on facility services, programs, schedules, and YMCA membership benefits.
· Process monetary transactions, program sign-ups, and membership enrollments with accuracy and accountability.
· Serve as a liaison between members and program directors.
· Promote and encourage participation in YMCA programs and the Annual Campaign.
· Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area.
· Follow and uphold YMCA policies for dress code, cell phone use, breaks, and shift responsibilities.
General Functions:
· Assists with functions and events as needed.
· Attends required meetings, conferences, or training as deemed necessary.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
