Job Summary
Coordinates activities associated with purchasing regarding replacement surgical instruments and implants used within surgical instrumentation sets. Track purchases of instrument orders and communicates with departments on overdue purchases and repairs. Coordinates the surgical instrument repair process, which includes the repair of video scopes and power equipment. Assists the implant coordinator, nursing supervisors/mangers and other OR staff to ensure that our instuments are serving the needs of the operating room. Run missing instrument reports for OR supervisors and for individual service line leaders. Ensures routine instruments are order weekly on the palm hand-held computer. Places reorders in the proper location in instrument storage room. Works with materials services to follow through on instrument and equipment purchases. Must be able to perform the duties of a Sterile Processing Technician.

Minimum Requirements
Job related course work beyond high school - Successful completion of a Central Sterile Processing Education Program with certificate.
5 years - Experience working as an operating room or central processing technician. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation required.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

STERILE PROCESSOR - CERTIFIED - NCSP
Certification from a Sterile Processing certification agency such as IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and data entry

Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

Mathematical skills
Experience working with various sterilization devices
Ability to identify various types of surgical instrumentation.
Knowledge of decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilization procedures.
Knowledge of computers and order entry systems.
Certification as a surgical technologist. - Preferred
