Mechanical Design Engineer
We are currently searching for a motivated, knowledgeable, personable, and energetic individual to join our Engineering Team as a Mechanical Design Engineer This individual will be joining a team that is excited about advancing innovative technology of the future, and playing a key role in groundbreaking thin film research advancements.
Job Summary:
Provide design assistance for moderately complex engineering assignments including products, parts, components, or portions of major projects. Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices. May require research and gathering of information to solve specific design problems. Must be adept with Solidworks to develop layouts, drawings and designs that meet engineering specifications, as well as collaboration on updating PDM best practices.
Training will be required within our production team to generate knowledge of our products and better assist in the design engineering of our custom products.
Job Duties:
- Design and prepare detailed Solidworks models and drawings for individual components as well as complex assemblies.
- Discuss design concepts & functionality to meet clients' requirements.
- Undertake research and development as needed for customized projects.
- Consider factors influencing product design such as cost, selection of materials, production methods, new technologies, and safety.
- Generate bill of materials (BOMS) to have parts ordered for each system.
- Modify designs and revise drawings to address design flaws found during actual construction and to meet manufacturing/cost requirements.
- Perform RCA to identify process weaknesses and implement solutions
- Interface with various department personnel to ensure that products can transition seamlessly from original concept through to the production floor.
Preferred qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
- SOLIDWORKS experience in a work environment (3+ years).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills and must be detail oriented.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize time wisely to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Prior experience in the vacuum field a plus but not required.
The Mechanical Design Engineer position is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. This is an in-person position located in our Hingham, MA headquarters. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
