HVAC Apprentice
$18 – $25 per hour
Starting pay based on experience; raises tied to training milestones and skill development.
Launch your HVAC career installing commercial systems on New England's largest construction projects. We pay you to learn the trade — EPA 608 training and PPE provided, and a clear path from apprentice to journeyman to foreman.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll work alongside experienced journeymen and foremen installing rooftop units, air handlers, split systems, VAV boxes, refrigerant piping, hydronic piping, and controls on major commercial projects — not residential service calls.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist journeymen and foremen with HVAC equipment installation under supervision
- Carry materials, stage equipment, and maintain tools and work areas
- Learn to install ductwork connections, piping, and equipment supports
- Assist with refrigerant piping, brazing, and pressure testing under supervision
- Learn line-voltage and low-voltage/controls wiring basics
- Practice reading mechanical drawings and equipment submittals
- Perform demolition and removal of existing equipment as needed
- Attend required trade school / classroom training
- Progress toward EPA 608 Universal certification (we pay for it)
WHAT YOU BRING
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation and attendance
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
NICE TO HAVE
- OSHA 10 (we'll train if you don't have it)
- Prior construction, automotive, or electrical exposure
- Basic hand-tool familiarity
- Tech-school or vo-tech HVAC coursework
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift and carry 50+ lbs.
- Prolonged standing, walking, squatting, reaching
- Overhead work and climbing stairs
- Work at varying heights on ladders and rooftops
- Pass a pre-employment physical
- Perform in all indoor and outdoor climates
