Position Title: Executive Director
Classification: Full-time, exempt, salaried, benefits eligible
Location: Onsite, Millerton, NY
Hours: Monday through Friday, expected schedule is 9am-5pm with appropriate breaks
Regular evening and weekend work around programs, events, and community engagement

At the North East Community Center, we work to advance the well-being of all people in our rural region by responding to their diverse needs through services, programs, and partnerships. Headquartered in Millerton, NY, NECC serves northeast Dutchess County by making opportunities and support available to all our residents through programs and partnerships. We see our work bring neighbors together and build connections that lead to positive change in the towns and villages we serve. Focus areas include Youth, Seniors, Food Access, Case Management, Transportation, and the Farmer’s Market, among other critical services for our area residents.
Role:
Reporting to an engaged Board of Directors, the ED holds overall strategic and operational responsibility for NECC’s staff, programs, and execution of its mission. The ED steps into an organization looking to strengthen its center amid a shifting landscape of resource availability and community needs. NECC has a strong reputation, long-standing partnerships and a dedicated and talented staff. Goals include a refreshed focus on building community connection, scaling responsibly and deepening impact. The incoming ED will continue to deliver on NECC’s mission while evolving the organization to be more community-focused and future-ready.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Operations:
· Lead, coach, and support a ~25-person staff.
· Strengthen management systems and operational infrastructure.
· Empower, partner and collaborate with staff to fulfill NECC’s mission.
· Ensure program quality and rigorous evaluation against goals.
· Ensure that foundational NECC values of respect, flexibility, transparency, collaboration, and inclusiveness permeate all NECC does.
External Relations and Fundraising:
· Serve as NECC’s primary ambassador to community, partners, funders, and donors.
· Grow and diversify funding across individuals, foundations, and government contracts.
Strategy and Financial Management:
· Work with Finance Director and Finance Committee to ensure long-term financial health through budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
· Provide clear, timely, and candid reporting to the Board and committees.
· Work with the Board and Staff to establish priorities for program development considering budget and staff impact and resource evaluation.

Qualifications:
Required:
· Significant leadership experience in social services, nonprofit, or a related field.
· Track record of leading and developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentorship, and delegation.
· Nonprofit financial management experience — budgeting, forecasting, and oversight.
· Experience cultivating donors and securing funding across individuals, foundations, and government.
· Experience partnering effectively with a Board of Directors.
Preferred:
· Working knowledge of state and county contracts, policies and grants.
· Experience leading a capital campaign or other major fundraising initiative.
· Life or work experience in a small-town or rural setting.
· Spanish proficiency.
ADA Requirements:
· Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
· Ability to walk up and down stairs

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
