American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring combined adult/pedi ED experience and multiple certifications.

56-bed combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department with an average daily census of 175
-
Evening shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (15:00–03:30)

Every other weekend required
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers

Charts using Cerner (experience required)
-
13-week contract
-
Active IL RN license required; candidates actively in the application process with an ETA may also be considered
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC — AHA and Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required

Combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department experience required
-
Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition

IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV insertion
-
Medication administration skills required: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
-
Neurological case experience required: CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
-
Orthopedic experience required: splint management and application
-
Pediatric case experience required: abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, abuse identification and reporting, infections, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, and skin disorders

Psychiatric case experience required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, and suicidal patients

Respiratory case experience required: chest tube insertion/management and intubation

Proficiency in triage and isolation precautions required

Cerner EMR experience required
-
SSN and DOB required for consideration

Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
-
Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
-
Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
-
RTO of up to 5 days is permitted; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
-
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
-
Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
