TR Excavating is a small commercial excavating company that performs but not limited to the following. Dig and backfill foundations, grading slabs, site work grading, parking lot removals, some wall demolitions and canopy demolitions. · Manage and make sure crew operates safely and are following OSHA, General Contractors, and TR’s Safety regulations. Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
● Embody TR's culture and core values.
● Understand how to use ProCore for all aspects of work: understanding electronic plans and completing the necessary forms, reporting and documentation.
● Manage and work directly with general contractors and superintendents to make sure they are satisfied with the work schedule and day-to-day progress on job sites.
● Review job scope prior to launch, looking for potential pitfalls or opportunities for error and preparing foremen and crews proactively for challenges ahead. Follow up during the course of the work to see how crews are navigating potential challenges to ensure risks are top of mind.
● Work to support the success of TR across all trades, understanding that we win and lose as a team. Address issues promptly as a team. Rather than pointing fingers, work to improve processes, understand the root causes of problems and bring forward solutions.
-Jumping in equipment helping crew out on job sites.
● Complete and maintain a 4 week outlook on a regular basis.
● Hiring and recruiting. Communicate with Trade BA’s when there are open positions, encourage employee referrals and work to retain employees.
● Ensure employees are working safely and following TR and OSHA safety regulations.
● Conduct post-construction inspection walkthroughs to create punch list items for the foreman and crews to complete.
● Work with project managers to proactively secure change orders and additional time and materials. Ensure change orders are submitted for work performed and communicated to the project managers and general superintendent.
● Turn in receipts, separated by job cost code, to general superintendent.
● Ensure crews have all necessary equipment on site.
● Work with TR yard foreman to ensure timely, efficient deliveries to job sites, submitting requests as soon as possible (ideally with at least 48 hours notice).
● Understand multiple project drawings to become familiar with the scope of work.
● Ensure field staff are performing high quality work, following TR's processes and meeting customer expectations.
● Conduct pre-construction visits to ensure job sites are ready for the work to be performed.
● Work with unions, following union regulations and partnering with them to grow our team.
● Monitor daily production reports and ensure crews are on track.
● Ensure all equipment, tools and materials are cleaned and ready for pick up (stacked, banded, etc.).
● Ensure all operators are performing routine maintenance and completing routine maintenance checklists. Ensure all operators and foremen understand how to perform routine maintenance and properly clean and care for equipment per TR’s routine maintenance program.
● Update highlighted takeoffs with details to reflect the work that's been performed.
● Work collaboratively with other trade superintendents on multi-trade projects, finding ways to support each other and foster a high degree of communication across trades.
● Conduct pre-construction meetings, reviewing the checklist and ensuring proper communication of job details.
● Manage one to two foremen, each with a three- to four man crew.
● Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of multiple projects.
● Work with the general superintendent to establish an efficient day-to-day schedule.
● Order stock materials, ensuring accuracy and the proper inventory is ready for the job.
● Follow up with project managers to ensure all specialty items are ordered and on hand for jobs to begin.
● Work closely with general superintendents and project managers on bid production, RFI's, reviewing and updating scope of work, completing change orders and communicating project details, status and special circumstances.
● Review time cards to ensure accurate reporting of hours.
● Work closely with foremen to coach and develop their skills, help them oversee their crews and resolve employee issues, and work together to resolve challenges and grow them professionally.
● Schedule field staff, ensuring daily manpower to meet the needs of work to be performed.
● Oversee field staff employee performance, ensuring accountability to TR expectations regarding safety, quality, culture and job duties. Terminate underperforming employees and work with the general superintendent to restaff based on scheduling needs.
● Review daily logs in ProCore and coach foremen to improve their daily log reporting so that logs track job details and document issues in a professional and accurate manner.
● Call back general superintendents in a timely fashion, working to quickly answer their questions and resolve any concerns.
● Act as the main on-site point of contact for general superintendents, owning the positive customer experience with TR, answering day-to-day questions and handling communication, working to serve clients in a way that ensures the longevity of the relationship.
● Communicate with the general superintendent when general contractors, customers or job site superintendents are behaving abusively or unsafely, for client review.
● Complete post-construction review form to communicate project wins and challenges, working to identify ways to continue improving TR's quality, safety, efficiency, customer satisfaction and profitability.
45-50 hours a week
There is some Light Travel outside the metro that requires overnight stays. Our employees are home every weekend.
