Job Description
NSC Staffing is seeking experienced Shipfitters for a long-term shipbuilding opportunity in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Candidates must have at least four years of shipfitting experience and be able to perform structural layout, fitting, cutting, and fabrication according to marine blueprints and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret marine blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components.
- Install bulkheads, decks, foundations, stiffeners, and other ship structures.
- Use grinders, cutting torches, tack-welding equipment, and hand tools.
- Measure, align, and position structural components accurately.
- Inspect completed work for proper fit and specification compliance.
- Follow all shipyard safety and quality procedures.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in demanding industrial environments.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of shipfitting experience.
- Previous marine or shipyard experience is required.
- Ability to read and interpret marine blueprints.
- Experience with structural layout, fitting, cutting, and fabrication.
- Must be able to pass a shipfitter skills assessment.
- Must pass all required pre-employment screenings.
- Must be eligible to obtain required shipyard credentials.
- Ability to work overtime and various shifts as required.
- Must have steel-toe work boots.
Per Diem Requirements
Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the worksite and provide an eligible utility bill in their name to qualify for per diem.
