Position Summary
The Weekend Activities Assistant (CNA) works alongside the Activity Director to plan, organize, and implement engaging recreational and therapeutic activities that promote each resident's physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial well-being. This role helps ensure our activity program reflects the individual interests, abilities, and needs of every resident while supporting a positive, resident-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating weekend activity programs.
- Document resident and family interactions in assessments, care plans, and progress notes as appropriate.
- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend resident care conferences.
- Assist with implementing Reality Orientation programs when appropriate.
- Support activities that encourage residents to maintain or regain independence and community involvement.
- Foster a warm, engaging atmosphere that promotes resident participation and meaningful social interaction.
Work Environment
- Weekend schedule.
- Works throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, and activity spaces.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, and intermittent movement throughout the shift.
- Must be able to adapt to frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Interacts daily with residents, families, visitors, staff, and regulatory personnel.
- May work with residents and families experiencing emotional or stressful situations.
- May be required to work additional hours, holidays, or respond during emergencies such as severe weather, evacuations, or other disaster situations.
- May participate in community outreach and special events as assigned.
